Be it a playdate or a piano lesson, a child will always bring their entire being – entire life, really – into the encounter.
Be it a playdate or a piano lesson, a child will always bring their entire being – entire life, really – into the encounter.

For musical instrument teachers like us, this means that no two lessons are quite the same. Sometimes, sinking into the stories woven into the notes comes easy. Other times, a lesson resembles a therapy session.

When a child settles down by their instrument, the state of their thoughts and feelings is, inevitably, where learning a new piece starts.

How does the piece make us feel?
What kind of a storyline do we hear in it?

Right there, at the intersection of musical storytelling and the uninhibited emotional expression of a child, is where MusicFairyTales was born.

Music begins where the possibilities of language end.
– Jean Sibelius

The story of the company began with our founders’ wish to expand the positive influence of one-on-one music lessons to a larger audience. Our first products, the music fairy tales books, came to life through rigorous collaboration between a team of wonderful, creative professionals. Today, our stories are moving into increasingly more dynamic, more social and emotional learning-focused products.

If our experience as educators have taught us one thing, it’s this: at all times, that uninhibited emotional expression of a child is a gift. A gift that, unfortunately, is often lost as the world teaches us to repress, hide, or devalue undesirable feelings.

However, with the right guidance, the emotional expression that comes easy for little humans can be turned into recognition and words, laughter and creativity.

That is exactly what our products, from the books to the Storywall to our upcoming Feel & Play app, aim to do.

Our mission is to use our team’s 100+ years of combined experience in music pedagogy and creative writing to help bring up the next generation of creative, emotionally intelligent humans.

Music begins where the possibilities of language end.
